☀️ About Sri Vishnu Suktam
Sri Vishnu Suktam is the venerable Vedic hymn revealed by Rishi Dirghatamas in the Rigveda (Mandala 1, Sukta 154) and celebrated across the Taittiriya Samhita of Yajurveda. It extols the cosmic majesty of Lord Vishnu as Urukrama and Trivikrama, whose three divine strides encompass the terrestrial realms, the atmosphere, and the transcendent highest celestial heaven (Parama Pada), where divine nectar forever flows.
Viṣṇornu kaṁ vīryāṇi pra vocaṁ yaḥ pārthivāni vimame rajāṁsi |
Yo askabhāyaduttaraṁ sadhasthaṁ vicakramāṇastredhorugāyaḥ || 1 ||
Meaning: Now will I proclaim the heroic deeds of Lord Vishnu, who measured out the earthly realms, who established firmly the highest celestial abode, stepping forth wide in three mighty strides, praised by all!
Pra tadviṣṇuḥ stavate vīryeṇa mṛgo na bhīmaḥ kucaro giriṣṭhāḥ |
Yasyoruṣu triṣu vikramaṇeṣvadhikṣiyanti bhuvanāni viśvā || 2 ||
Meaning: For this heroic might is Vishnu praised—formidable and invincible like a lion wandering in high mountain heights. In whose three wide strides all created beings and worlds dwell securely.
Pra viṣṇave śūṣametu manma girikṣita urugāyāya vṛṣṇe |
Ya idaṁ dīrghaṁ prayataṁ sadhasthameko vimame tribhiritpadebhiḥ || 3 ||
Meaning: Let our earnest, heartfelt praise reach Lord Vishnu, the mountain-dwelling, widely praised, supreme bestower of boons, who alone by His three celestial steps measured out this vast, extended cosmic expanse.
Yasya trī pūrṇā madhunā padānyakṣīyamāṇā svadhayā madanti |
Ya u tridhātu pṛthivīmuta dyāmeko dādhāra bhuvanāni viśvā || 4 ||
Meaning: Whose three divine steps are ever brimming with heavenly nectar, rejoicing in inexhaustible divine bliss; who alone sustains the threefold realm—the earth, the heavens, and all beings in existence.
Tadasya priyamabhi pātho aśyāṁ naro yatra devayavo madanti |
Urukramasya sa hi bandhuritthā viṣṇoḥ pade parame madhva utsaḥ || 5 ||
Meaning: May I attain that beloved supreme abode of His, where godly souls rejoice in bliss! For He is the true eternal friend of all righteous souls, and in the highest realm of Vishnu there springs a perennial fountain of sweet nectar.
Tā vāṁ vāstūnyuśmasi gamadhyai yatra gāvo bhūriśṛṅgā ayāsaḥ |
Atrāha tadurugāyasya vṛṣṇaḥ paramaṁ padamava bhāti bhūri || 6 ||
Meaning: We yearn to reach those luminous abodes where radiant rays of divine light shine resplendently. There, indeed, the supreme realm of the widely celebrated Lord Vishnu radiates in all its infinite splendour!
